Founded by George Lucas in 1975 to create the special effects for his Star Wars films, no other facility of its type existed at the time. ILM has created visual effects for nearly 300 films and has played a key role in 10 of the top 15 worldwide box office hits of all time.
ILM specialises in CGI or computer graphic imagining . They began with the traditional arts of blue-screen, model construction, ILM advanced the development of motion control cameras and many other effects. Since 1980s ILM has taken over the way digital imagining and computer graphics are used in featured films
